We have had several exchange students as singers and we would like you to be one of them as well! An audition for the choir can be arranged any time during the rehearsal period, the same as the University study period. At the moment, we are especially looking for men to join the choir. The audition is held during the rehearsal break. Our rehearsals are on Mondays at 18.00–21.00 at the student nation premises of the Ostrobotnia building (Töölönkatu 3 A, 5th floor). We recommend you arrive already at the beginning of the rehearsal at 18.00 in order to be able to participate in the warmup and the first half of the rehearsal. Also, make sure to reserve some time after the rehearsal for taking a drink with your new choir friends in the pub downstairs!
When preparing for the audition, we would like you to
- notify our chairperson (pj@pohjalaistenosakuntienlaulajat.fi) about your participation in the audition
- learn an commonly known, unaccompanied song by heart or from sheet music (for example a folk song, a pop song etc.)
- be able to read sheet music at least a little bit.
We will count as your benefits if you have sung in a choir or solo before or played a musical instrument. However, the lack of previous experience is not a hindrance if you are willing to learn new skills and if you actively participate in the rehearsals.
